Track Leggings vs. Flare Leggings: How to Choose Your Style

Track Leggings vs. Flare Leggings: How to Choose Your Style

Two of the most loved silhouettes at Playground are our signature track leggings and our flares. Both are made for comfort and style, but they wear very differently. Here is how to choose the one that fits your day.

What are track leggings?

Track leggings are our signature style: bold tracks down the leg on a full length legging with a high band, 4-way stretch and a triangle gusset. The Track family includes the Jump Track, our #1 bestseller, where the front is one color and the back is black with white tracks, plus Fame, Marathon Stripe and Drift Away.

Best for: workouts, studio classes, running errands and anyone who wants a legging that looks styled on its own.

What are flare leggings?

Flares are fitted through the hip and thigh and open into an easy flare at the hem, which elongates the leg. Shop the Grey Rib Flare Legging, the Black LuxPlay Flare Legging or our super soft Lounge Flare Sweatpants in exclusive skin, camo and American Beauty prints.

Best for: lounging, travel, yoga and dinner out. Flares pair as easily with a sneaker as with a heel.

Track vs. flare at a glance

  • Fit: Tracks are a second-skin fit from waist to ankle. Flares are fitted on top and relaxed at the hem.
  • Rise: Fame, Marathon Stripe and Drift Away are mid rise and the Jump Track is high rise, all with our high band. The LuxPlay Flare comes in a high rise fit.
  • Look: Tracks are sporty and graphic. Flares are softer and a little more dressed up.
  • Styling: Tracks shine with a cropped tee or tank. Flares look great with a fitted top or bodysuit.

Why not both?

Most Playground customers end up with one of each: tracks for active days and flares for everything else. Shop Tracks and Flares, all designed in Los Angeles.
